Rooted in the landscape of West Texas, Boora Architects designed the new 1,800-seat performing arts center on a satellite campus of the University of Texas of the Permian Basin to merge two elements; strata and sky—evoking nature and light. Mayer/Reed responded with a signage program that integrates illuminated amber letters into ledge openings and worked with artisan Peter Andrusko to V-carve text directly into the indigenous limestone walls. The exterior marquee acts as a glowing beacon on the night horizon.
