Built in 1918, Vista House is the crown jewel of the Historic Columbia River Highway. Now 85 years old, the historic structure has undergone a major renovation to ensure its future as a “temple to the natural beauty of the Gorge, a memorial to Oregon pioneers, and a comfort station for travelers.” Mayer/Reed designed the exhibits located in the rotunda and six galleries on the lower level that provide an historic overview of Vista House, the historic highway and the natural beauty of the Gorge that inspired its builders during the coming of the motor age.
