The Hallie Ford Center for Healthy Children and Families, a 24,000-sf building is part of OSU’s College of Health and Human Sciences. Located in the heart of OSU’s historic district, it hosts research programs that are particularly focused on building healthy families.
Site improvements designed by Mayer/Reed were closely integrated with the building. A gracious porch invites students and faculty to use the facility. The porch relates directly to a multi-use lobby with a hearth and a space where events are held. The perimeter landscape incorporates the preservation of historic stately elm trees and a small rain garden that treats stormwater from the building roof and paved areas of the site. Small outdoor seating alcoves provide places for small meetings and study.
